The thoughts of a newly married, recently graduated, christ-seeking, pastor-to-be

Post 100... Part 2

⊆ 8:47 AM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

Okay, so the surprise birthday post deserved its own. Today is still my birthday, and i still intend to celebrate. But first off today, I have a job interview for the Moonstone Bistro again today... in 1 hr and 11 minutes. Probably sooner by the time I finish this post. That was a great part about Saturday too, I got the call confirming I was getting a second interview, a call I was stressing about all day Friday. I guess all my friends that I worked with at the Starbucks next door have been giving me a good review, so hopefully it all pays off.

Also, in my first interview, the manager recommended that I try a certain type of beer if I like stouts (which I do), and I did try it, it was Young's Double Chocolate Stout. A british stout that tastes more like a dark ale than an actual stout, and despite the Double Chocolate name, the chocolate was more like a tone of flavor than an actual prominent taste, which for me, who is not a big chocolate fan, was a huge plus. I intend to give her a review of my thoughts on the beer during my interview. I want to be a beer guru for this restaurant, to be able to offer decent beers with meals if people do not like wine, or just want to try a different pairing.

After my interview, at noon I will be at Red Robin in town to get my some yum-yums with my friends. I look forward to it because the people I invited were those who could not make the surprise party. So far my birthday gifts have been many Best Buy gift cards (me likey), Some Tastefully Simple products (Bountiful Beer Bread mix, Herb and Cheese Focaccia mix, and some good Salsa and blue corn chips), I know I have a extra battery/vertical grip for my camera coming, and some other products. Very exciting!

So yeah, that is it, and if anyone wants to get my anything (what can I say, I love gifts) you can go to www.bhphoto.com and I have a wish list there as well as at www.amazon.com. Just put in my name or my e-mail if you know it, and you will be able to find them.

Thanks all!

Zach

100th Post!

So I suppose one could consider this a milestone in the blogging community. So Yippee!

Okay onto other things,

Today is my birthday, I am the grand age of 23. What does this mean? Pretty much another year older and no perks to benefit from. I can never remember but I think things happen at both 24 and 25, I think that happens to make up for the nothingness that occurs with 22 and 23. But yes, I am now another year older.

I had a first this year though, a SURPRISE birthday party, and I capitalilze that because my girlfriend Karina did such an amazing job that I (who consider myself ot be pretty observant) was totally surprised, clueless, dumbfounded, etc... She pulled it off by using her innate knowledge of me. She made an itinerary for my day, so I could happily go on through the day always knowing what was coming next. How did the day go? I will tell you.

Well first of all, she did this on Saturday, since she had the day off.

I woke up in the morning, showered, dressed, yadda yadda, and then she came and picked me up. She took me out for breakfast at Lumberjack's one of my favorite breakfast places, and we enjoyed a hearty meal. Yummy!

After this was time for another favorite of mine... Coffee, we went to Starbucks and I got to have an oh so yummy tall nonfat latte. We played cards (another favorite thing of mine to do) and then we went and saw Shrek the Third. So far the day has been nothing short of amazing. I know that next we are going to go have lunch at Red Robin with our friend Merissa and Zach. And well, Zach's archery competition went long, so lunch was put off till 3. As we are driving there Zach calls needing a ride, so we pull around and go back to my house to pick him up.

I start changing things over to my car since I am tired of using Karina's gas, and then I go inside, my room has been all tidied up, and I thought to myself, what kind roommates I have. Karina and I go upstairs to grab Zach and as we turn into the kitchen.... what do I see and hear?

15 People Standing and saying... "SURPRISE" and start singing to me. I was shocked, dumbfounded, and I will update this with pictures later. Yes I was totally stunned. I love my girlfriend. Karina had food all ready, and there were many a card (all packing the coordinated gift shopping of Best Buy gift cards). I t was truly amazing, so to all my friends who showed up thank you again so much, it was amazing.

Prayer

God I am super stressed right now, I trust you, but at the same time I fret, I worry, I want to be free of this. But at the same time I have all these bills that need to get paid, I need reassurance that they will get paid. Please God, help me. Give me reassurance, my heart desperately needs it right now. It feels like it is going to fall apart, I need to know that you have doors opening for me. The walls are closing in on me, my stress is claustrophobic in nature. I feel like I am overcome with doubt, as though this setback is larger than life. Please God, you are good, you love me, please open a door. Open a door now, I speak out in faith to you, I believe you will bring that door open for me. That you will reveal the path that leads me away from this state of being that I am in right now. You are the God of hope, the God of peace, I need both of those right now. I need those aspects of you to bring forth into my life. You are so good God, I need that goodness, I need your praises to be abundant in me, I need you to proclaim your blessings over me. I want to be recognized as your child with whom you have such a great plan for. I just don’t see them right now.

I believe in you, now please help my disbelief.

Back from an unintentional blogging hiatus

So as some of you have noted, I have not put up a blog since I attained my job with Simpson University, some even blamed the job for me not being able to blog. Well, as of last week, I am unemployed again, for a variety of reasons Simpson has decided I was not a good fit for them and have sent me on my merry way. They did give me a full paycheck, and I am surviving off that and what money I had in savings and I have been hitting the job market. I probably won't return to having any form of abundance of money anytime soon, but if you all could be praying for me I would appreciate it. I have a car payment and insurance payments I was not previously covering. So I am in a bit of a pinch, but I trust that God will show me the open doors, I just need to make sure I have my blinders off so I can see them.

Currently I have my resumes in with these local businesses
1. Moonstone Bistro Waiter (1 Interview Down, 1 to Go)
2. City of Redding Customer Service Rep
3. Verizon Wireless Assistant Retail Manager
4. Target Stores Executive Team Leader
5. Personnel Hiring Center Branch Manager

I am also considering that I might have to pull of a second job, maybe go back to Starbucks, not an exciting thought, but it is a possibility.

Anyways, happy to be back, I will try and keep you all better informed.
