PUB Ministry Blog!

So I will willing admit that I am part of a ministry that disciples, loves, and partakes in beer at the same time. Pretty much my favorite ministry to date. In any case we have started a blog chronicling our journey into church plantdom, the beers we have tasted, and just other going ons. Feel free to swing by and see what fun we are having with Jesus and Beer! Check us out at the PUB Ministry Blog!

Verizon turned down iPhone

⊆ 8:00 AM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

Cingular (now AT&T) may not have been Apple’s first choice for a partner for its iPhone, reports USA Today. The newspaper said that Verizon Wireless passed on an opportunity to become the exclusive distributor of the phone almost two years ago.

Verizon Wireless vice president Jim Gerace claims that his company turned Apple down because they “couldn’t reach a deal that was mutually beneficial.” Apple wanted a percentage of the monthly fees, control over how iPhones could be sold and control of the relationship with iPhone customers, Gerace said.

This article saddens me, because I am a Verizon Wireless customer, and it just makes sense since they have such a high-speed internet available for the wireless phone with their EV-DO (EVolution Data Optimized) network, and well Cingular barely does if you count EDGE. But I understand that Verizon wants to keep its profits since really iPhones won't be the largest part of their market there is no reason for Apple to get such a large portion of their earnings. But still I am sad, I would totally have renewed for a couple years, maybe even dropped a few hundred dollars for an iPhone. Sad Day.

I Dare to Want

⊆ 1:56 PM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

I want to believe when I doubt
That You are really there
I want to know what cannot be proven
That You have always been

So I cry out to you my God
Reveal Your glory to me
Challenge me beyond my means
And carry me when I fall

I want to walk on water
Calm the storms, raise the dead
I want to go out again in faith
I want to be a fisher of men

So I cry out to you my God
Call me out of the boat
Ask me to take faith in You
And lead me despite my fear

I want to live my life for You
To proclaim you before kings
To live without fear of dying
Even if it costs me my life

So I cry out to you my God
Call me out of Ur
Empower me with the Spirit
And pave my way with grace

No More Lattes

⊆ 1:32 PM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

I am done making lattes, I am done making coffee at all for a living. Now I can go back to being the average Starbucks loitering coffee drinking bum. Currently I am selling cell phones for a third party dealer, which works for now, but I am definitely on the job/career hunt. So if anyone knows a great company to work for, who honors people who have received degrees, has benefits, and reasonable hours of operations I would be happy to hear about any options.

By the way, I shaved my beard off and got a haircut to get myself presentable for interviews. Had 3 Interviews with one place, but alas, wasn't what they were looking for in the end. Please be praying for me.

The Wait is killing me

⊆ 10:36 PM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

Okay so here's the deal.

This morning (12:01am) I shaved my beard off. Why? Because I had a job interview. Perhaps better said career interview with a very large, well known company, and I am really excited because this is more than a job, its a chance to really get into a career where I can be part of a business that I think is a great job. It is to become a management trainee with a major car rental company. I drove down to Sacramento today for my 3rd and final interview. Now it is all about the wait, and I HATE the wait. My nails are gone, trimmed down by the good ole ivories, and I have gone through 3 episodes of 24 season 2 which haven't helped the nails anymore. So yeah... Now my ADD nature has brought me back to the blogosphere.

I hope this wait only lasts hours and not days.

Tomorrow unveils a new beginning

⊆ 5:51 PM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

No this is not a philosophical retreat.

Tomorrow is MWSF (MacWorld San Francisco) and the launching of Apple's New Years lineup. I can scarcely wait to read about what is unveiled after Steve Job's keynote!

What new toy will I drool over and get 3 years from now? a Tablet-Mac, iTV, the iPod Phone?

I love Deviled Eggs

⊆ 7:10 PM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

So the title says it all. I really do love Deviled Eggs. So if I ever invite you to a party, and you wanna bring an appetizer bring me deviled eggs, I will be very excited. And for New Years Eve I made some pretty freaking fantastic Deviled Eggs.

What did I make them with you ask? I used Kraft 4 Cheese Mexican Blend, and I used... Crumbled Dean Bacon! Oh yeah baby. This stuff was like a breakfast scramble but devil style. They were rich and protein packed, and they were a hit.

So now I think I am gonna work on a few more ideas of deviled eggs and see what comes of it. I love cooking... yay cooking!

Thoughts on the death of a dictator...

⊆ 5:34 PM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

Saddam is dead...

I feel that this is a good thing, a man of ruthless capacity has been removed from a place of harmful potential. Even in prison I fear his influence could have been dangerous. A lot of thoughts are floating around the blogosphere regarding this. The concept of a "spider" who was controlling the smaller less dangerous yet far more numerous pests... Others proclaim this as justice... but yet justice is not ours...

I don't know how I should feel. But I suppose that is why we feel the way we do, because that is what is authentic. If I am supposed to feel a sense of accomplishment at this and glory I don't.

I just feel that the world is a little safer now that both a brilliant strategist of destruction, a figurehead for pro-war policies, and a sadistic mastermind of genocide is no longer around. I just hope at this point we can try and return to life as normal, let soldiers try and live normal, to pursue greater things.
