The thoughts of a newly married, recently graduated, christ-seeking, pastor-to-be

MIssed the midnight deadline

⊆ 12:12 AM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

Well I thought I could get another blog in before midnight, but I missed it.

So today was fun, put a little time in at the Bistro, served some food and drinks.
Went home and finished a novel.
Karina and I went and hung out with the Kirkpatricks and the Kerrs sharing a chinese food extravaganza.
Ended the night with watching the Italian Job and chilling out. So it was a nice easy mosey a long day. I am happy.

It's 11:55

⊆ 11:56 PM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

I have less then 5 minutes to say something profound and nothing comes to mind. I am still in the midst of Wedding planning. We have our songs picked, they are gonna be fun and exciting and very us. I am trying not to fret over everyday life things. I am coming to grips with the fact that I helped facilitate the process of sending both my mentor and a great fried to Temecula, CA. It is indeed the turbulent twenties. All I can say is at this point I want to know I am living life to the fullest, relying on God to meet me where I am and help meet my needs that I turn to him for. I want that to be my testimony. That God provided for my wedding when we needed him too. And that he provided for myself and my mentor as our distance between our homes grows.

Well less than 2 minutes now, nothing else to say. I am happy, this seems like a sad blog, but I am happy. I am content and at peace. It feels good to relax.

Time to go,

Zach

She Said YES!!!

⊆ 6:50 AM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

Yup! It's True. Yesterday August 27, 2007 Karina Lynn Callaway said she would marry myself, Zachary Paul Tanksley. We have not set a date yet or know anything for sure regarding the wedding, but details will come I promise.

The breakdown of how it happened is After I had been gone in Oregon for a few days picking up the ring, which she did not know, I came back. We went directly from me being back to going to her brother Jake's 12th Birthday Party. At that point I let her mom in on what was going on so I could make a sudden and awkward departure with Karina to the Sun Dial Bridge. When we were there I took her to our bench and gave her a red rose and then read to her portions of my journal detailing the conversations with her parents when I was gaining their permission and blessing. Following that I dropped down to one knee and popped the question, and much like the title to this blog... She Said Yes! A gentleman who watched this unfold snapped this picture using my camera, and then we took off to go show her family.

Artists and God

⊆ 11:03 PM by Zach Tanksley | ˜ Comments

I like to think that God is quite the artist. Not just in innate talent, but also in his fierce passion in what he calls his own. He creates a world and a group of beings that he longs to have worship Him, and when they criticize him and turn to other Gods he takes this very personally. I can think of a few people who had to wander the desert till they died because they countered his ways.
Artists exist in many formats, the football coach who designs the plays that go beyond the traditional and is criticized for trying something unorthodox, or the engineer who develops the device that allows for greater efficiency but is criticized for fixing something that is not broken both are not exactly happy when these happen.
In thinking about these you realize that God put a little artist inside of everybody, a little part of God I like to think exists in those moments when you realize you have done something exceptional and you are the only one who fully appreciates it and you passion for it is so big, that the slightest touch of criticism from someone who does not understand it lights a fire that cannot be quenched.

So find that little piece of Godly creativity in yourself, pass the ball in a way that scares people, create efficiency where no one else sees it necessary, live outside the box that constrains you because someone told you that is the only way it should be done.
